A little history about Monads Dance Club
The name, “Monad” means “Eternity” or “a basic individual entity which is indestructible” according to the OAC faculty founders of the club in 1921!
It all started with a group of younger faculty at Oregon Agricultural College who wanted more socializing and dancing so they got together for dancing at the Women’s Club. This worked out so well that in 1922 the group formally organized the Monads Dance Club. For many years the Monads danced at the Women’s Club on 7th Street, and then some of the dances were at the Memorial Union Ballroom, Benton Hotel, Wagner’s Garden Room, Episcopal Hall, and Elks Lodge.
